Equine Coaching & Nervous System Regulation
A dysregulated nervous system can be at the core of many issues we experience in our daily lives, from stress and burn out to health issues and beyond.
The autonomic nervous system can be divided into two systems, the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.
The parasympathetic nervous system regulates and is responsible for a sense of wellbeing and calmness in our bodies. When we are functioning from our parasympathetic nervous system we may feel calm, safe and are able to connect with ourselves and others around us.
The sympathetic branch of the nervous system is the part that switches on our survival mechanisms (both physical and mental) when we are exposed to stressful situations. It activates the fight, flight, freeze and fawn responses in order to help us survive.
When someone has been subjected to stressors for an ongoing period of time, be that from burn out, major life events, a fast paced lifestyle, trauma, ptsd, etc we can often become stuck in sympathetic nervous system responses.
It can feel like your physical and emotional reactions are running on autopilot...and in fact they are.
Equine Assisted Coaching can be very useful in helping to regulate the nervous system, releasing tension and allowing us to feel what it feels like to be back in touch with a sense of safety and calm.
A horse's natural state of living in the present can have an amazing effect on a dysregulated nervous system.
I offer individual sessions and 3 day group workshops that focus specifically on healing a dysregulated nervous system with the help of horses.
These sessions are for anyone who would like to gain more insight into the functioning of their nervous system and how to regulate it.
The sessions will encompass theory combined with individual coaching sessions with the horses.
